Following the unfortunate home defeat suffered by Ekiti United FC on Sunday in a week 9 encounter against Edel FC from Anambra State, the Management of the Ekiti State owned team has read out the riot act to the technical crew and players.

At an emergency meeting held Monday, the Management expressed displeasure and discomfort with the below par performance of Ekiti United players in the match wondering how and why the team failed to reciprocate the impressive financial and moral support of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji led government towards the team.

Some key loop holes which could have been responsible for the poor performance were mentioned while the Technical Crew had the privilege to shed light on grey areas that needed to be looked into especially the need for total commitment on the path of the coaches and players.

The technical crew was thereafter given a 3 match ultimatum to up it’s game and ensure remarkable home and away results or else erring individuals would face the music.

Having lost one of the double home matches in the first stanza of the league, Ekiti United now have a herculean task on their shoulders as the quest to redeem their reputation continues when they play host to second placed side, Beyond Limits FC from Ogun State by weekend.

Their next match before the league goes on break is away to table toppers, Madiba FC of Lagos.

Ekiti United slipped to 7th place in the 12 team Southern Conference Group B1 table after last weekend defeat while hopes are high that victories in their next two matches will take them up to Super 8 contention.

In attendance at the crucial meeting involving all members of Ekiti United technical crew was Hon.Tunde Adesanya who is the Special Assistant to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Sports Development.

Hon Adesanya equally informed the Management and Technical crew of the need to brace up saying the governor having been supportive in all ramifications especially through regular payment of players salary and allowances would not take anything short of a qualification for the 2024 NNL Super 8.

An 84th minute goal scored following a counter attack by Edel FC from Anambra State on Sunday dealt a massive blow on Ekiti United FC as the host team lost it’s first home match in recent years.

Aside the defeat, the players performances were also below par as there was no shot on target through out the encounter.
